I have started to send altered book postcards to friends along and other ephemera. No real purpose to it other than 'hey what up I'm not billing you!' This idea reminds me of the photo exhibit / relationship map idea in some ways .. If you were to make it a formal sign-in thing, you would be able to invite people into a feedback loop, and a webpage would render visually exchanges between participants of positive messages, i.e. sending email / post etc to others in the loop would strengthen / colour lines between participants.
